Before the company brain, get the foundations right.
Useful AI starts with a shared understanding of the business. A practical look at the work underneath the answer.
Future Analytics · Practical perspectivesStart with a question that matters
Which orders are at risk? Where is margin slipping? What should the team do next? These are business questions first. A useful answer needs the right records, agreed definitions and enough context to make a decision.
That is why we start with the operational question and work back to its sources. The goal is a reliable answer to a real problem.
Build a shared understanding
Sales, finance and operations can use the same word to mean different things. Revenue might mean booked, invoiced or collected. An available item might already be committed to another order.
Connecting the systems is only part of the work. The team also needs to agree what the numbers mean. Those definitions become the foundation for reporting, applications and the company brain.
Make the answer traceable
A company brain should help someone see where an answer came from. Which records support it? How current are they? What is still uncertain? Who has permission to see them?
Start with a scoped set of trusted questions. Check the answers with the people who know the operation. Extend the coverage as that foundation proves useful.
Let the first project stand on its own
You do not have to build the whole operating system at once. A reliable view of one operational slice can be valuable in its own right. A single workflow can be a useful starting point.
The first project should deliver something your team can use, while creating a foundation you can keep building on.
